Tuesday Shoesday – Flats or Sandals?
Flats are storming spring and summer by rage this year and I have to say – I am loving this trend. As the summer months get hotter, it may be tough motivation to slip your sweaty soles into a less than breezy flat. No need to fuss though, Dolce Vita has compromised for you.
The “Zen” sandal-flat will be super cute all summer long and will give your toes the fresh air they crave. Available in Black, Cognac, Sea Blue and White. I went for the Cognac to be sure they will go with almost anything, but I’m tempted to dive in with the Sea Blue as well…

Tuesday Shoesday: Boots with the Fur
Several years ago, UGG was notorious for their “Classic Boot”. Companies around the world were creating knockoffs and everyone I know probably still has a pair, real or fake. The real UGGs are made sturdy, with soft shearling insides and last an awful long time. For me, the classic UGG boot is more of a large house slipper than a fashion statement, but to each their own.
While many variations of the classic UGG are still in the market and selling like hotcakes (my personal favorite: the ones with sequins), I have been pleased to see UGG branch out in the last few years. They have been creating some really great, high-quality boots and shoes made of more than just shearling, but fine leathers. One of my personal favorites that is out now is the UGG “Foxley”- made with leather and genuine lamb fur. Is there really any other boot that better fits the “boots with the fur” description? I think not.

Tuesday Shoesday: Smoking Slippers
Everywhere we look right now, booties are getting credit for being this fall’s shoe of choice. We’ve already discussed those, so I think today we’ll let the smoking slipper shine today. Perfect for the transition of fall to summer, I mean who are we kidding it seems like it’s hot through September these days. Here are the ones I’m deciding between.
Vince Camuto ‘Lilliana 2’ – $97
I’m digging the prints, sparkles and studs for this style to add a little pop to your outfit.

Designer Tuesday
In Lieu of our usual Tuesday Shoesday, I thought I would highlight a designer purse that I have been coveting. Dooney and Bourke reminds me of my mom because when we were kids she had this classic Dooney green purse with a matching wallet and coin purse that my dad had given her one Christmas. At the time I didn’t realize that it was a timeless beauty, but I liked the duck emblem.
I’m going on a trip to Kenya in the fall and have been looking for the perfect natural colored bag to bring. I can’t help but picture myself with this:
Probably an inappropriate choice for my travels, but I’ve never been one to conform.

Tuesday Shoesday: Anniversary Sale Booties
It’s no secret that S and I have an affinity for shopping at Nordstrom. So, when the anniversary sale comes around every summer, we do our best not to get too carried away. This year, I’ve been scoping out booties. I mean, I already have my fair share of tall boots. But these would truly round out my collection. Plus, they are totally spring/summer wearable, right?
Aldo ‘Fastrost’ Boot – $86.90 during sale, $129.95 after
Indigo by Clarks ‘Heath Harrier’ Bootie – $89.90 during sale, $139.95 after
Sam Edelman ‘Petty’ Bootie – $104.90 during sale, $159.95 after
Check out my other anniversary sale picks on my Pinterest board.

Tuesday Shoesday: Frye Flats
Last week I was dinking around downtown waiting for a friend to get off work before we heading to the stadium for a ballgame. I popped into Nordstrom to peruse for 20 minutes or so. After a pass through the shoe department, I decided to try on a pair of $59.95 bp. flats. The kind sales person brought back a pair of $149.95 Frye Carson flats, explaining that they didn’t have my size in the shoe I originally requested. I know we have all been there, the sales person brings out a shoe more than twice your budget and you cringe, try it on and politely say that it doesn’t fit (aka: I can’t afford these).
Lucky for the sales person, this tactic typically works on me and this time they got me again. They were comfortable, cute, versatile and are Frye, so they will last (see me justifying…). If you are in the market for some expensive, but very well made, leather flats – these are the ones. I went for the “silver multi”, but they come in black, cognac, violet, green, orange, white and bronze leather.

Shoesday!
Okay, I’ll be honest, this was supposed to happen yesterday because Shoesday is more like Tuesday then Wednesday. Anywhosie – what do you guys think about these bootskis?
I’m thinking that I love the orange. Totally out of the ordinary for me, but I’m interested.

Shoe Years Resolution?: Kitten Heels
If you’re anything like me, you have a tough time resisting a sky high heel. I have become so familiar with lying through my teeth in response to, “Those shoes are so cute, but high! Do they hurt your feet?”. I always respond with something like, “Oh no, I could run a marathon in these!” What I mean is- they hurt, badly. I find excuses all night to sit down or find something to lean against and people may or may not be starting to wonder if they should cut me off from the wine.
Excuses aside, in 2012 I am resolving to give my aching soles a rest and put on some kitten heels. My personal definition of a kitten heel is 3 inches max, single sole (no platform). This Michael Kors pump would be a perfect start to my new PRACTICAL shoe collection.
Happy New Years everyone. We are already 16 days into the new year, but it isn’t too late to think of a way to shape up your life in the upcoming year…even if it is just by starting with a pair of shoes.

Ombre for Fall
I love a great transition piece and right now, I can’t stop looking at ombre items, both inside and out. It all starts with a scarf, and before I know it, I’m noticing ombre dahlias too.
Interior, exterior, between ombre, chevron print, and stripes, I’m getting excited about transitioning into fall. New season, new beginnings.
I think it’s the bajillion years of school, but fall truly means getting back in a routine. So bring it on, and bring on the ombre transition pieces because they are inspiring.
