GoPro Video: Dreams

I’m a little obsessed with the GoPro YouTube channel. I know this video is older, but I love the part where young Lily interviews Kelia. “What’s it like to be beautiful and famous?”

Tuesday….Newsday

I’ve been brainstorming what kind of shoes I’m lusting for for the past couple of days, and although there are several pairs, I thought that it would be more fitting to share some exciting news. So today instead of Shoesday, I’m here with Newsday. Tomorrow, Sarah will be leaving for perhaps her greatest adventure to date. She will be embarking on the internship of a lifetime in Kenya working for a coffee company.

I know that there is some lingering nervousness paired with excitement that she is feeling right now. I think that anyone who has made a decision that is new, knows that feeling in the pit of your stomach. There is always the fear of the “what ifs” but traveling is the best way to learn a lot about how you handle those moments of unknown. I’m so proud of how far S has come in the past year and how she has grown and developed professionally. I can’t say how jealous I am that she is taking advantage of this opportunity. S will update on her 3 month long adventure here on 1000 Wonderful Things. I can’t wait to read her posts.

Dog Ears

S and I spent last weekend at our family’s lake place on Priest Lake in North Idaho. We borrowed a party barge from our parent’s friends and putted around the lake.  I love this photo of Ripken with his ears floating in the wind.

Don’t you love how doggie ears feel like velvet? Rip is 11 years old, he likes to rest his chin on your lap and close his eyes that now have cataract in them. I feel like massaging his soft ears makes his eyes feel a little better.

Happy holiday weekend!

Currently Coveting: Cabin Cozy

Just saw this 700 square foot cabin from Mountain Living, and instantly fell in love with the property. The views, the coziness, but the brightness from those windows. I read a book a while ago that was written from Ernest Hemingway’s first wife’s point of view, called “The Paris Wife”. She writes about spending time in the mountains and feeling healthy, fit and happy from breathing the fresh air daily, eating well, and drinking wine in the evening by a fire.  This cabin makes me think of cozying into a blanket, reading a good book, and sipping tea in the morning. I picture hiking, and fly fishing during the day, and then drinking wine and talking around the fire in the evening. Everything about this small foot print space is gorgeous (the styling certainly helps with that).

Get the cozy look with these blankets.

Blue Angels at Seafair

The first weekend of August in Seattle brings Seafair, featuring hydroplane races, the Navy and Coast Guard, and of course, the Blue Angels.  S and I spent Saturday on our friend’s boat checking out the festivities on the north side of the I-90 bridge. As a native Washingtonian, I have to admit, this is the only way I’ve experienced Seafair. The crowd was in great spirits, the weather was absolutely perfect, and the fly overs were deafening.  All with “Highway to the Danger Zone” playing in the background.

Stop, hammock time!

I was just perusing uncrate.com (yeah I know their tagline is “The Best Gear For Guys” but I love it) when I saw this image.

Gimme, gimme that hammock! At a price point of $19,500 – it is safe to say it is out of my budget. BUT, that being said, I couldn’t stop thinking about how amazing it would be to have a hammock on our patio.

Here are a couple more budget friendly options.

Red Star Traders’ Hammock Bed Set with Frame on Gilt

Sunbrella Hammock Bed on Overstock.com (Frame sold separately)

NOVICA Maritime Brazil Hammock on Gilt

Nothing like a hammock and a slight breeze to fit perfectly with a good book and a refreshing drink.

Street Pianos Worldwide

What’s wonderful today? British artist, Luke Jarrom’s Play Me, I’m Yours installation in Salt Lake City. One of many worldwide places where upright pianos have been painted by local artists and placed around the city for the public to play. Anyone is invited to sit down and play at any time. Learn more here.

Love this video of young Roman playing in SLC.

We should bring this to the Seattle/Tacoma area!

More Pendant Decisions

Remember how I was trying to decide on lights for our dining room?

I saw this today on Joss & Main and I think I might pull the trigger. Hopefully it’s not brownish and is more greyish like they say.

Not a member of Joss & Main, click here to get on board!

What do you guys think? Should I do it?

Monday 4th of July Inspiration

It’s a little hard to concentrate on the Monday of a work week that has a big holiday smack dab in the middle. Here’s a little inspiration to get you through to Wednesday from Glassy Baby.

Glassy Baby donates part of the proceeds from their sales to charities. Each one is hand blown and when a candle is lit, the colors change according to the tint and reflection of the light.

Happy short work week!
