More Pendant Decisions

Remember how I was trying to decide on lights for our dining room?

I saw this today on Joss & Main and I think I might pull the trigger. Hopefully it’s not brownish and is more greyish like they say.

What do you guys think? Should I do it?

Monday 4th of July Inspiration

It’s a little hard to concentrate on the Monday of a work week that has a big holiday smack dab in the middle. Here’s a little inspiration to get you through to Wednesday from Glassy Baby.

Glassy Baby donates part of the proceeds from their sales to charities. Each one is hand blown and when a candle is lit, the colors change according to the tint and reflection of the light.

Happy short work week!

Pendant Lights for the Dining Room

You guys, our dining room needs a new light situation bad. There is a chandelier fixture spot ready to have something wired in to it and I’ve been looking around for the perfect addition to the room. I found it. However, there is a slight budget conflict. A girl can dream about $350 light fixtures right?

Sigh. It’s from Ballard Designs and it looks awesome.

Inspired by this via Young House Love:

I also found these options that a little more budget friendly. What do you guys think?

Here is a photo of our dining room.

What do you think? Have you seen any other cool fixtures that you think would look good?

DIY or DIE: Chair Mission Accomplished

Remember the chair project that I was going to finish back in April? Let me refresh your memory.

Well guess what?! I finished it! The Nana came down this weekend and helped me complete the project – sewing the cushion. She calmly explained how to put the zipper in, reminded me to leave extra seam allowance, and suggested I press before sewing. The Nana is a sewing master.

Wooooo! Will show you a pic of it in my house once my dad brings it over at the end of this week.

Tuesday Shoesday: TOMS Bimini

I know I already professed my love for boat shoes, but I’m back to profess it again to the new style of Toms. Called the Nautical Bimini, these babies have a non-slip sole, cute eyelets laced with a piece of rope, and are made of ripstop canvas. We all know it rains around here, and the classic Tom isn’t exactly meant for wet weather, but with the rubber sole on these, you won’t have to worry about soaking through the bottom.

I can’t help but love the striped interior as well. I think my favorite is the orange, simply because I have nothing like it in my closet.

Another win from Toms. If you don’t know their mantra, find out more here.

One for One.

America!

America things remind me of my birthday – because I was born on 7/3 and for the first years of my life, I’m pretty sure I thought that the fireworks were for me.

What they weren’t?

Anyways, lately, I’ve been drawn to red, white, and blue things. Here are a few of my favorites.

Grain sack table runner from Jennifer Lyon’s Etsy Shop. The dining table we picked up from Craigslist has a water ring right in the middle on one end that I’ve been covering up with whatever textiles I have around the house, but this one would match these napkins I picked up from Kohl’s when we were in Montana a couple weeks ago.

They are on super sale right now for only $2.99 each.

Love this headband for days at the lake.

And this scarf, also from ThreeBirdNest’s Etsy Shop since our weather here in the PNW can be a little temperamental.

I’m picturing my dining table with a vase full of sunflowers. Some delicious grilled chicken and a strawberry-rhubarb crisp to ring in the big 2-5.

Pretzel Pups

Sometimes you have to use a little incentive to get things done. In this case, it was a nostalgic favorite for R, the pretzel dog. I used Joy the Baker’s Mini Pretzel Dog Recipe, and they came out amazing. Not quite as picture perfect as Joy’s but the flavor was great and the recipe was very easy to follow. Dip ’em in ketchup, mustard, a little srirancha (sriracha/ranch), or whatever you desire.

I would recommend this recipe a million times over – well I’d recommend any of Joy’s recipes really.

Enjoy.

Tintero Vino Bianco Grangia

Let’s talk about summer wines, I’ve made it pretty clear that I reach for sparkling anytime of year and summertime is no different. This week I met a friend at Tom Douglas’ Seatown near Pike Place for dinner. After perusing the wine list I noticed a by the glass called Grangia, next to it the notes said lightly sparkling, crisp. Yes, please!

First sip- apple, sparkling, oh my!

A blend of Chardonnay, Favorita, Ameis, and a bit of moscato grapes from the Puedmont region in Italy.

Just be careful, Grangia goes down easy!

Tuesday Shoesday: Ode to the Boat Shoe

The Sperry Top-Sider is said to have been invented after Paul Sperry wanted to create a shoe that mimicked the pads of his dog, who was adept at walking on wet surfaces without slipping. Now, although I don’t spend much time sailing myself, I can’t help but find myself slipping into my own pair of Topsider’s throughout the spring, summer, and fall when I want something that is a little more casual then the ballet flat and offers the comfort of a tennis shoe.  This navy/plaid version is prepster, which I find myself embracing for my work look this summer.

Photo: Nordstrom

The bonus of being on sale due to Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale is tempting me even more.  Are you wearing boat shoes this summer?

xx.
